The Gold Coast Film Festival presents Flickerfest -The Home Of Great Short Film
Flickerfest, Australia’s leading Academy® Award accredited and BAFTA-recognised Short Film Festival returns to the Arts Centre Gold Coast with the Best Of Australian Shorts programme. This is a one-off chance to see these amazing short films before they continue their journey around the world; expect to experience the best in short filmmaking Australia has on offer.
The Best Of Australian Shorts programme features shorts from some of Queensland’s brightest emerging filmmakers including Flickerfest 2017 winner of the Miller Award for Best Cinematography ‘In A Cane Field’, the powerful ‘Adele’ by director and recent SAE graduate Mirene Igwabi, ‘Welcome to Country’, a tongue in cheek look at a hotshot public servant’s visit to a remote Aboriginal community, and the sweet and tender ‘The Boggabilla Bus’. Also screening is ‘Fish With Legs’ voiced by Frank Woodley and Barry Otto and ‘Messiah’, a playful collision of cultures in the Australian wilderness, written and directed by Damian Walshe-Howling.
‘Welcome to Country’ director Dean Gibson and producer Helen Morrison will join Flickerfest Director Bronwyn Kidd for a Q&A after the screening.
