Gifting and Taxation Incentives for Visual Arts
Like any regional gallery or major institution, gifting artwork is an important way for collections to develop. With scarce resources to purchase works, gifts of artwork from generous donors is the most important way the city has built one of the most significant regional collections in Australia that Gold Coast residents can enjoy and be proud of.
The Gold Coast City Gallery would particularly like to acknowledge the extraordinary generosity of Life Benefactors Patrick Corrigan AM and Barbara Corrigan, and Mrs Win Schubert on behalf of The Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Foundation for the Arts, on their gifting of artworks to the Gallery’s collection.
You can contribute to the Gold Coast City Gallery’s collection, in the following ways:
Become a Benefactor
Join our exclusive Benefactor program with a gift of $1000 or more, and receive tax deductions, invitations to special events, public recognition and opportunities to network with like-minded people. You can direct your gift to acquisition of artwork or Gallery public programs and events. More information
Gold Coast City Gallery has Deductible Gift Recipient status and is eligible to receive donations of artwork for the collection under the Australian Government’s Cultural Gifts Program. Gifts must fall within the Gallery Collection Policy.
Artwork donated under the Cultural Gifts Program is exempt from capital gains tax and donors receive tax deductions. Once the gift has been endorsed by the Federal Government Committee on Taxation Incentives for the Arts, donors can claim tax deductions equal to the average of two market valuations received from independent, approved valuers.
